Stricture

stricture
- 14c., "abnormal narrowing in a body part," from L.L. strictura "contraction, constriction," from pp. stem of stringere "to bind or draw tight." Sense of "criticism, critical remark" is first recorded 1655, perhaps from the other L. word stringere "to touch lightly" (see strigil).
